I feel airy because my head has nothing inside. Much like this rabbit, waiting for its head to dry...

Hand sketches

I tried to do what LP mentioned during our life drawing lesson yesterday. That is to try drawing your hands as seem from the reflection of a mirror. She said it's a great way to improve one's drawing of perspectives and can help in drawing anatomical figures. Oh well, I took her advice and produced three painful sketches of my hand today. I'm not entirely pleased with the result but nevertherless, it's a pretty good try for an amatuer like me. I had no idea how the bone structure of a hand is like so my hands kinda look flubbery. Is that even a word? They look more like rubber than bony. Help help!

Sometimes, I take the unneccessary attention and constant disturbance from my friends for granted.

I have a workmate who never fails to irritate me and make fun of me whenever she sees me. It started out as fun to be under the limelight for those baseless gossips but it gets annoying after a while. Now, since we are all not working anymore, I kinda miss those days of laughter and crappy jokes.

It's wierd isnt it? Those seemingly meanlingless words meant so much to me now as I somehow feel hollow without those tiny bits of jokes and bickerings with her. They seem to encompass more than just words, but feelings and pieces of friendship too. Those time spent together can never rewind itself, but what's left in my memory are the playful bickerings and shovings we gave each other.

Sign, i guess one can never realise how precious something is until it has left us hanging there by a thing thread of memory.

Ms Lu's Fashion Label: Yumumu

Recently, I came across my art teacher's website featuring her fashion design pieces and i took a peek inside. And it took my breath away.

The clothes were elegantly designed, with traits of asian culture in the fine details and plaids. Even the prints on the dresses contained hints of chinese art or japanese kimono designs. I especially love the dress titled Kimonostraps. Its simple, sleek contours in white ascentuates the wearer's figure. What make it more than just another dress is its unique folds on the shoulder straps and doesn't it come across as both girlish and feminine?

Another of my favourite pieces is the red and white dress called Korean Prataman. I love the quirky folds of the skirt and the multi pleated collar. Contrasting colours never fail to make my eyes light up.

After skimming through all those fabulous designs, i feel really inspired and brimming with a new found sense of direction: nothing is impossible. If my art teacher can start up her own fashion label based on her ingenuity and determination, then i definitely can't give up my dream of becoming an illustrator. As i was sitting in Borders reading up on graphic design and illustration, I realised that there are more than one paths which lead to the same goal. An illustrator doesnt neccessarily have to draw for books or work for animation companies, they can become a medical illustrator, natural history illustrator, fashion illustrator or simply cross over to graphic design. Isn't that exciting? there's endless possibilities to what I can become!
